Les Enfoirés - great french music, once a year
17 02 2008There is a country with a special kind of people and a very special kind of culture: France.
In the times of globalization I think it is very important to have a culture which is able to offer something which is not totally influenced by US entertainment for stupid masses.
1986 the french humorist Coluche made a TV show with several french musicians. Unfortunately he died then, but the concept of combining french artists for some charitable purposes is still alive.
It works like that: every year (in January or February) a lot of french artists come together and make a show, a big one, over several days. That group of artists call themselves “Les Enfoirés“, and there are not always the same musicians, no, they change.
They have a really good time their, the attendants love it, and it seems that those concerts become more and more THE concerts in France. Have a look at YouTube.
The music is not always very original, it’s some kind of pop music, ballades, french chansons, and some R&B sometimes. However the music of the concert of 2007 is actually very good, and I recommend that album as a starting point for Les Enfoirés.
I love to watch the DVDs of those shows, or the movies on several home pages. I was always interested in good concerts, and would really like to see them live some day.
